October 13, 2015<\/strong> – Odyssey Logistics (Odyssey) announces a new international logistics service for the metals industry that is an extension of the domestic service it currently provides. This new service leverages Odyssey\u2019s leadership in domestic intermodal metals transportation with its expertise in international transportation management to provide marine logistics capabilities, and is in response to increasing demand from both domestic and international customers seeking an end-to-end solution across the globe.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cWe already have a significant presence in the North American intermodal metals market, providing door-to-door service into Canada and Mexico,\u201d said Odyssey President and CEO Bob Shellman. \u201cThis will provide our customers with one-stop shopping for all their domestic and international intermodal movements.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The key components of this\u00a0new international service<\/a>\u00a0are Odyssey\u2019s proven Load and Roll Pallet (LRP) and its proprietary system of services, which permit safe, reliable and damage-free transportation of coiled metal product packaged and loaded in any orientation. It also allows shippers of long products and flat products to experience the same benefits. Metals shippers will now have the capability to move their products door to door without additional handling at the port. In addition, because the LRP method is approved by nearly all of North America\u2019s Class 1 railroads, this service provides a seamless transition from marine to intermodal stacktrain service.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cThis specialized service, combined with the synergies of Odyssey\u2019s multi-modal solutions, drives efficiencies and savings for our customers. It will also open up new geographic sales territories for them since we are capable of providing service to nearly any port,\u201d said Paul Sever, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CMI Logistics LLC, Odyssey\u2019s intermodal metals business unit. \u201cShipping metals is very specialized. Metal can be damaged by movement, moisture, mishandling and improper securement as well as other factors.
