The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance\u2019s (CVSA) International Roadcheck, the largest enforcement program on commercial motor vehicles in the world, will take place May 16-18, 2023. During this time, CVSA-certified officials will conduct\u00a0inspections at weigh\/inspection stations, designated inspection areas and along roadways throughout Canada, Mexico and the U.S.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Each year, CVSA focuses on a specific aspect of roadside inspection; this year\u2019s focus will be anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and cargo securement. CVSA notes \u201cABS play a critical role in reducing the risk of collisions by preventing the wheels from locking up or skidding, allowing a driver to maintain control of the vehicle while braking.\u201d Cargo securement also poses a risk to drivers and motorists by potentially impacting the vehicle\u2019s maneuverability or causing unsecured loads to fall, resulting in traffic hazards and collisions.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

During the three-day inspection, inspectors will check the motor vehicles along with the driver\u2019s documentation and credentials using CVSA\u2019s\u00a0North American Standard Inspection<\/a>\u00a0 (NASI) program procedures. Any vehicle or driver in violation of the NASI will be placed out-of-service until those violations or conditions are addressed.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Both drivers and vehicles that pass the North American Standard Level I or Level V inspection without any violations may receive a CVSA decal which is valid for three months. CVSA decals, when affixed, remain valid for a period not to exceed three consecutive months. Generally, vehicles displaying a valid CVSA decal will not be subject to re-inspection. However, nothing prevents re-inspection of a vehicle or combination of vehicles bearing valid CVSA decals.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
