Today, there are approximately 63,000 open truck driver jobs in the bulk tanker market alone. To get back to normal levels, carriers would need to hire and train about 174,000 new drivers from now through 2026 when the situation is expected to improve. New drivers are currently being on-boarded, but not quickly enough or in large enough numbers to ease the pressure for tank truck carriers and bulk shippers.
